What else is there to say? It's a double thumbs up from me. It also looks great, animations are on point, mood is thick. I've read there is even an adaptive difficulty thingie, working on the backend, ensuring that the player is in that engagement sweet spot at all times. There is a lot of planning and optimizing involved, and I find it immensely enjoyable. Inventory management is a puzzle on it's own. Something as basic as aiming is fun, it's just the right amount of wonky to be a challenge and not to be a frustrating chore. I was surprised how engaged I got by different systems in the game. It got so much praise at release, I've decided to give it a go. I like the stories, for example, I know a lot about Silent Hill lore, despite never playing any of those games, but the gameplay of horror games rarely is interesting to me.Įnter RE2 remake. RE2 remake is so good, I've completed it two times, back-to-back, once with Claire, once with Leon, and the thing is, I'm not a fan of horror games, like at all. Now, I can't wait to finish the other RE games that I have, which are REmake, RE4, and RE7! Yeah, all in all, Resident Evil 2 Remake is a solid 10/10, in my opinion. X is one of the scariest chase enemies in gaming. Shooting mechanics are really good, inventory management always keeps you engaged whenever exploring, keeping in mind what you need or not, and the enemies always do something unpredicatble, like suddenly shift to the left when you are about to lock on for a headshot. Gameplay I don't have much to say, other than that I found it perfect. Side note, I just find the name Raccoon City really bad, but also good lol. Yes, there is not much speaking, but whenever Leon says "What the" when seeing a zombie once in a while, it helps you immerse yourself into the Raccoon City incident. The voice acting also makes this atmosphere so much better. Even though it is a 3rd person game, it feels like a 1st person game. As you explore the various areas, you have a flashlight that literally lights 1/10 of the screen, but it works, works really well! It integrates you perfectly into the perspective of Leon and Claire. The enemies and the sounds they make really put you on edge, combined with the scarcity of items (maybe not as much towards the end), and lighting. But the story is not the main thing about this game, but it's atmosphere. It manages to bridge a great mix of a well written survival story, mixed with some high level action that brings up the urgency and pace of the story. Now, I finished my first RE game, being RE 2 Remake, and it is one my favorite games of all time. Recently I got into the Resident Evil franchise, and I bought a couple of those games since they were on sale.
